Water

Water is the most common liquid. It has no colour, smell or taste.

It is a molecule made up of 2 hydrogen atoms and 1 oxygen atom. Its chemical formula is H2O.

Water is important to cells because it can dissolve many substances. Therefore, it gives a medium for chemical reactions to take place and carries the substances round the body. It helps to keep the body temperature unchanging by drying sweat from the skin.

Water also dilutes waste products and poisonous substances in the body. It helps in the formation of urine.
