Like can mean two things.

Like can be used as a connective to compare the similarities of two objects. For example,

In the first example, the sentence is implying a similarity of the taste of a cheese sandwich to the taste of rubber. In the second example, the sentence is implying a similarity of a person named Jenny to an angel.
