Experiment
An experiment is an action, which attempts disproof of an idea. That is, it assumes the idea false, and takes disciplined action that will fail if the idea is true, and only if the idea is true. Often this requires several quite similar experiments.Experiments are the most basic element of scientific method.
Because they cannot provide proof in themselves, they are not the same as faith or other ways to arrive at truth. They are necessarily focused on the negative.
