Archaeology

Archaeology is the study of the past by finding the remains left behind by people who lived in the past. You then need to work out what the stuff means. These can include old coins, tools, buildings, and even just piles of ash or garbage.

An archaeologist is a person who studies archaeology.

There are many kinds of archaeologists, who work in different places. Some archaeologists study old Egypt. Others study old Greece or the Vikings. Archaeologists study every civilization we know about. Some have have found new civilizations, like the ones found in India. A small group of archaeologists study human remains hidden under water. They search for sunk shipss or cities that have been lost under the sea.
