Woodstock is a town located in Ulster County New York, most famous for lending its name to the Woodstock Festival held in nearby Bethel, New York. It was incorporated as a town on April 11, 1787. As of the 2000 census, the town had a population of 6,241.

Demographics and other statistics

The 2000 census recorded the following: 92.4% of the population identified themselves as non-Hispanic white; 2.6% were Hispanic or Latino of any race. All other racial backgrounds were less than 2% of the population, including the 1.9% who identified themselves as multiracial, the 1.3% who were African American, 1.1% Native American, and 0.8% Chinese American. The following were the ten most common ancestries reported by residents, alone or in combination: German (20.9%), Irish (16.2%), Italian (15.1%), English (12.9%), Polish (9.8%), Russian (9.7%), Dutch (4.8%), Scottish (4.0%), non-Basque French (3.9%), and Hungarian (2.1%). 15.8% reported "other ancestries" besides the 27 options available.

In 2001, no murders, rapes, or robberies were reported. 121 acts of larceny, 30 burglaries, seven automobile thefts, and four assaults were reported.
