William Tell

William Tell is said to have lived in Switzerland in the early 14th century. He was known to have a son. As the son was overheard exhulting “Death to Tyrants!” — the Austrian governor was being lenient in his punishment of the youth knowing William Tell was a marksman without peer.

Tell did split the fruit with a single bolt from his crossbow, thankfully, without mishap.

William Tell is the subject of Guillaume Tell, an opera by Gioacchino Rossini.
