William Alfred Fowler (August 9, 1911 - March 14, 1995) was an American physicist. He received the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1983 for his theoretical and experimental studies of the nuclear reactions of importance in the formation of the chemical elements in the universe.

He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and died in Pasadena, California.

Not to be confused with Alfred Fowler.

Won the Bruce Medal in 1979.
