The Western Cape is a province in South Africa. The capital is Cape Town. Prior to 1994, the region that now forms the Western Cape, was part of the huge (and now defunct) Cape Province.

Population: 4.7 million (10.1% of the total)
GDP: 14.6% of the country's total
Languages: Afrikaans (59%), English (20%), Xhosa (19%)
Main centres: Hermanus, George, Stellenbosch, Paarl, Wellington, Worcester, Robertson, Knysna, Swellendam
