West Lothian or Linlithgowshire is one of 32 unitary council regions in Scotland, and a Lieutenancy Area. It borders onto City of Edinburgh, Falkirk and Midlothian. It has an area of 164 sq. mi. (425 sq. km) and a population of 154.860 (1999 est.)

The area is also a traditional county. As such, it borders Stirlingshire to the west, Lanarkshire to the south-west and Mid Lothian to the east.
