Weapon platform

A weapons platform in general is any structure or system on which a weapon can be mounted. For example, a fighter jet is a weapons platform for missiles or bombs. Other vehicles such as the HMMWV ("Hummer") are condider a weapons platform as well, such for grenade launchers and/or machine guns. The term can describe a naval vessel as well, and a actual firearm system. In a more general use a weapons platfrom could be structure around a gun, such as a turret on ship, or bracing in a aircraft.
