VW Lupo
The VW Lupo is the smallest car manufactured by Volkswagen. It was introduced to fill a gap a the bottom end of the VW line up caused by the increasing size and weight of newer vesions of the VW Polo. It is available in a variety of engine sizes and trim levels, from budget models through to GTI varients with high performance engines and taught, if slightly uncomfortable, handling. The GTI varients have been labelled a true successor to the VW Golf Mk.1, the first true Hot hatch.Various special-edition and test models have set records in fuel economy. The super-lightweight nature of the car and advanced 3-cylinder diesel engine have resulted in a production models that exceed 70 miles to the gallon in normal driving.
The Lupo is subject to an intruiging design flaw - the dashboard cup holder renders the driver unable to use 1st or 3rd gear. In other respects, the vehicle is well designed and well built, although in common with many other small VWs, the seats in the budget models are famously uncomfortable.
The Lupo is mechinically very similar to the SEAT Arosa.
