The University at Buffalo, formerly known as the State University of New York at Buffalo, is located in Buffalo, New York, USA, and is one of the four university centers operated by the State University of New York. It has had several similar names since the State of New York purchased the University of Buffalo in 1962. Before that time, it was a private university that began in 1843 as a medical college. Despite the many name changes, the university is still frequently called the University of Buffalo.

The original campus, located in the northeastern part of the city, is now the South Campus of the University at Buffalo. The North Campus is a more modern campus located in nearby Amherst, New York.

The University at Buffalo has many different schools and disciplines, including Architecture and Planning, Arts and Sciences, Dental Medicine, Education, Engineering and Applied Science, Informatics, Law, Mangagement, Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, Nursing, Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Public Health and Health Professions, and Social Work. The university has more than 100 undergraduate degree progams, along with masters, doctoral and professional programs.

The school's sports teams are called the Bulls. They participate in the NCAA's Division I (I-A for football) and in the Mid-American Conference.

This university is different from Buffalo State College, which is the other SUNY school in Buffalo and is located in the northwestern part of the city.
