USS Galaxy

USS Galaxy (NCC-70637) is the class leader of the Galaxy class of starships in Star Trek. Laid down in 2356, she was not launched until 2362 because of difficulties in building this new class of starships, much larger than any previous class, even though the class shared much commonality with the similar Nebula class. The leader was commissioned in late 2362 and immediately began her shakedown cruise under Captain H.G. Greene.

For the first few years of her career, the starship Galaxy found her accomplishments overshadowed by Enterprise's adventures and the destruction of Yamato, but her legend began finally to grow when the Dominion began to appear and she distinguished herself in the Dominion War.

As of the latest known date in the Star Trek universe (2375), Galaxy remains in service with Starfleet.
