USS Equinox
In the
Star Trek fictional universe, the
USS Equinox (NCC-72381) was a
Nova class starship in
Starfleet under the command of Captain Rudy Ransom. He was a renowned exo-biologist who had made
first contact with the Yridians, a species thought to be extinct by the
United Federation of Planets and the
Borg Collective. The Equinox, like the
USS Voyager, was transported to the
Delta Quadrant of the
galaxy by an alien entity named the
Caretaker. While returning to the
Alpha Quadrant, the crew encountered members of an alien race named the Ankari who exposed the
Equinox crew to nucleogenic life-forms made of
antimatter. The crew constructed a containment field to harvest these life-forms in an attempt to increase the ship's speed. After encountering the
USS Voyager, the
Equinox was shortly thereafter destroyed by others of the same species.
