Twins
For the usual meaning of "twins", see Twin. Twin (mythology) treats the significant mythic idea of the twin or doppelganger.
Twins is a musical group in Hong Kong, packaged in 2001 by mogul Albert Yeung's Emperor Entertainment Group, with elaborate attendant publicity (see below). It consists of two young ex-models, Charlene CHOI Cheuk-yin (蔡卓妍) and Gillian CHUNG Yan-tung (鍾欣桐), (originally called CHUNG Ka-lai).
Charlene Choi, also called Ar Sa, was born in Canada on November 22, 1982. Gillian Chung, also called Ar Gill / Gill Gill, was born in Hong Kong on January 21, 1981. Twins started their career in the summer in 2001, and they are well-known with their first song "Tutorial School of Love" (明愛暗戀補習社). Within two years, they have already enjoyed great popularity and they have fans from many Asian countries, including China, Taiwan and Japan.
Before they were employed by the Emperor Entertainment Group (EEG) to be singers, Gillian was studying in Melbourne, Australia and she worked as a part-time model during one of her summer vacations in Hong Kong. She was then introduced by her model company to EEG. Similar to Gillian, Charlene was also a part-time model who has taken part in several advertisements. She became famous after her participation in a television program orginised by Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK). As the two girls look like each other, EEG soon arranged them to form a group called 'Twins'.
Since Twins have a healthy image, they were selected to promote some social campaigns. For example, the summer activites for Home Affairs Bureau in July, 2003.
Among those group singers, 2R is commonly compared with Twins because they are similar in many ways. For example, both of them consist of two members, which presents an image of twins. Also, their singing style and the type of songs are similar, too. Therefore, this shows that Twins has a great influence on the singing business in Hong Kong.
Nevertheless, Twins continues to work hard to maintain their popularity. In the near future, there is a great probability for them to become one of the most popular singers in Hong Kong, as the number of their fans is now gradually increasing, including children, teenagers, and even the aged.

Like most of the other new singers, Twins paid a lot of effort so as to enhance their popularity. During their first two years, they released 3 EPs and 3 albums, and all these CDs achieved very good sale. Most of their songs stayed at the top of many different pop tables for several weeks. Their achievements highlighted their popularity amongst other new singers. Twins had their first concert in 2002 and three more in 2003, one of which was held in Guangzhou. Between the year 2001 and 2003, they received a total of 48 musical awards, which was an remarkable feat for junior singers, and it showed that their effort had been highly appreciated. In 2003, they got the largest number of awards in the annual prize presentations from the four major media, which are Commercial Radio (CR), MetroRadio, RTHK and Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB).Other business

At the time when Twins started their singing business, there were very few group singers, of which Beyond was one of the more famous groups. However, after the great success of Twins, other music producers such as EMI and Universial Music (UMG) realized there was a huge market for group singers.
