Theodore Maiman

Theodore Harold Maiman ( July 11 1927 ) is an American physicist who invented the first operable laser device (patent number 3,353,115). Maiman received the Japan Prize in 1987. He is the author of a book, "The Laser Odyssey".

He now lives in Vancouver, Canada.
