The Register
The Register ("El Reg" to its staff) is a British technology news website focusing on the computer industry. It was founded by John Lettice and Mike Magee in 1994. Mike Magee has since left to start The Inquirer. The Register's articles frequently have an opinionated tone. Comment pieces are carried along with the news. The site gets frequent accusations of bias, which are printed in the "Flame of the Week" articles. As well as carrying its own content, licenced articles from other sites are included.
The site tends to use nicknames for many companies: Intel becomes Chipzilla, Itanium Itanic, and Rambus is Rambust.
The Register has run Simon Travaglia's BOFH stories since 2000.
