First episode synopsis
The first episode introduces Bette and Tina initially, who are interested in having a child - however their preferred sperm donor unfortunately has low motility.
Also introduced in the first episode are a heterosexual couple, Tim and Jenny. Jenny observes Bette and Tina having sex in their pool, and appears to be extremely fascinated.
Bette and Tina attempt to solve their donor problems by having a party, however, some of their attempts are unsuccessful - one man responds in a minor diatribe how that he believes their mothering will destroy the child, another in his disfaith in his genetic material. Many other occurences happen at the party; Marina, the owner of the cafe the women regularly hang out in, with her reluctance to open up to Jenny, eventuating in Marina coming on to Jenny in the bathroom - but she is upset and returns with Tim, and initiates sex with him. Jenny later however decides to join Marina's book club, however, telling her that she is not interested in her.
Tina and Bette, meanwhile, have been trying to find a donor still, but they meet a willing donor who will not agree on donating his sperm without sexual intercourse between them - afterwards Bette finds the whole situation humorous but Tina does not, causing some tension to what they believed was a secure relationship.
Marina invites Jenny to Radar, their nearby gay club; she firstly refuses, but later relents and goes, meeting the other women, but later, gets distressed and leaves.
