Szeged (in Slovak "Segedín", in Turkish Segedin) is the capital city of county Csongrád. Szeged is situated near the southern border of Hungary, just to the south of the mouth of the Maros River, on both banks of the Tisza River (Theiss, Tiscia). Szeged is the cultural and economic center of South-Eastern Hungary, and a thriving university town. It is also famous for producing one of the best paprika in Hungary (and, therefore, in the world). The population is about 160,000.

The distance to Budapest is approx. 171 km (over the speedway M5 and the road 5).
