The Syro-Malankara Catholic Church is an Indian branch of the Eastern Rite Syriac Catholic Church in communion with the Holy See. Its adherants are sometimes grouped together as Thomas Christians. Those Syro-Malankara churches which did not come into full communion with Rome remain as the Syro-Malankara Orthodox Church. Some of these churches have close relations with Malabar Churches.

Sects

Some sects within this church believe Jesus travelled to the eastern limits of Persia after the crucifixion as a Rabbi where he was known Yuz Asaf (Yesu ben usef) to preach to the descendants of Israelite tribes scattered there after their deportation from the holy land. They also believe this is where he eventually died a natural death and was burried.
