Syndrome X (or: metabolic syndrome X) is a medical condition that affects a large number of people. In some studies, the prevalence in the USA is calculated as being up to 25% of the population.

Syndrome X is not related to the fragile X syndrome, a chromosomal abnormality. There is also a cardiac syndrome X, a subtype of angina pectoris where there is cardiac ischemia on exercise testing but no causative atherosclerosis on a coronary angiogram.
