The Speaker of the House is a title applied to a number of posts relating to government in different legislatures around the world, especially those based on the Bristish Parliamentary System (the "Westminster System") and those based on the Constitution of the United StatesThe Speaker is generally the person who serves as chairman of the legislative branch of government and presides over the day-to-day functioning of the congress or parliament.
