Shimane prefecture

Shimane prefecture (Japanese: 島根県; Hepburn: Shimane-ken) is located in the Chugoku region on Honshu island, Japan. The capital is Matsue.

The prefecture's name is spelled Simane in the Nippon-shiki, Kunrei, and JSL romanization systems.
