Shantou University was authorized and established in 1981 by State Council and the Guangdong Province to be the comprehensive university, the school construction and the development always obtains the central committee, Guangdong Province and the Shantou vigorously support, obtained the renowned patriot and international entrepreneur Mr. Li Ka Shing. Mr. Li Ka Shing accumulates for the school contributes money by himself that amounted to 2 billion HK dollars. The school is located in the scenery of beautiful seashore in the northern area of the city of Shantou. The area is 1.26 square kilometers, and the construction is done on the total area of 455,500 square meters. The campus is situated at the foot of a hill and beside a stream,The construction style is graceful, by the reputation is "flower of the universities construction".
