Saint Vincent
Saint Vincent is an island in the Caribbean, part of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. It is located in the Caribbean Sea, north of Trinidad and Tobago. It was disputed territory between France and the United Kingdom in the 18th century, but was ceded to the UK in 1783. It gained independence as late as 1979.Kingstown, estimated population 19,300 (1989), is the chief port of Saint Vincent, and the capital of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Kingstown is a center for the island's agricultural industry and a port of entry for tourists.
