Ruth Dreifuss (pronounced "dryfoos") (born January 9, 1940) is a Swiss politician.

She was elected to the Swiss Federal Council on March 10, 1993 (as the second woman ever and the only Jew so far) and has held the Federal Department of Home Affairs until her resignation on December 31, 2002. She is affiliated to the Social Democratic Party.

She was President of the Confederation in 1999.
