Ross McWhirter
Alasdair Ross McWhirter (12 August, 1925 - November 27, 1975) was, with his twin brother, Norris McWhirter, co-founder of the Guinness Book of Records.Ross McWhirter's extreme right-wing political views and outspoken comments on the Northern Ireland situation made him a target for terrorists. When he offered a ÃÂã50,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of a group responsible for several bombings in London, he became a target for the gang. He became one of the handful of high-profile Britons to be assassinated by Irish terrorist groups when he was shot by the Provisional IRA gang outside his home in Enfield.
