Richard Wawro (born 1952) is an autistic savant artist living in Scotland.

Wawro paints in wax oil crayons. What is unusual about Richard's achievement is that he is moderately to severely retarded and shows symptoms of autism.

Wawro started drawing at three years of age, and had his first exhibition in Edinburgh when he was seventeen.

Over his career he has painted many landscapes and seascapes. He gets them from images that he has seen only once from books and television. One of his major inspirations is light, which a teacher in Edinburgh at a special school encouraged.

His mother died in 1979. She was Scottish, while his father is Polish.
