Formed from a nucleus in neighbouring Luxembourg (which allowed privately-owned Radio and TV stations before Germany did) during the 1980s, this includes the biggest commercial television station in Germany, also named RTL (formerly "RTL plus"). RTL's main focus is on sports and entertainment. These stations have expanded in to the [i]RTL Group[/i], which owns televison stations across Europe.
