Proteales

The Proteales are an order of flowering plants, which belong among the basal eudicots. Newer classification schemes include three families:

• Family Proteaceae (protea family)
• Family Platanaceae (sycamore family)
• Family Nelumbonaceae (lotus family)

In the older Cronquist system the Proteales have a different composition, comprising the Proteaceae and Elaeagnaceae.
