Perm Oblast
The Perm Oblast (Пе́рмская о́бласть) is a oblast in the Volga federal district of Russia. It is named after its primary city, Perm. The oblast covers an area of 127,360.8 km², and as of the 2002 census the population is 2.82 million.

Neighboring oblasts and republics are (from north clockwise) Komi, Sverdlovsk Oblast, Bashkortostan, Udmurtia, Kirov Oblast and the Autonomous district of the Komi-Permyaks.
After a referendum held in 2004 Perm Oblast will be merged with the Autonomous district of the Komi-Permyaks to form a Perm Krai, which is scheduled to come into existence on December 1, 2005.
