Pennsylvanian (Amtrak)
The Pennsylvanian is a daytime Amtrak train running between New York, New York and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania via Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The trains travel through Pennsylvania's capital, the Pennsylvania Dutch Country, surburban and central Philadelphia, and pass through New Jersey up to New York City. On your journey, you will experience the wonders of Pennsylvania's countryside with its gently rolling hills and the industrial and commercial might of Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and New York.Trains run daily, with two running both directions during the weekdays, and one train running both directions during weekends. The entire train ride takes about 9 hours total, with 1.5 hours between New York and Philadelphia, 2 hours between Philadelphia and Harrisburg, and 5.5 hours between Harrisburg and Pittsburgh. The Pennsylvanian runs a portion of the Three Rivers (Amtrak) route, which runs from New York to Chicago.
Services on the Pennsylvanian include Unreserved Coach, Business Class (reserved deluxe seating), Dinette (for food, snacks, and drinks), and Railfone for public telephone access, which is available in the food serevice cars.
