New Wave of British Heavy Metal

For thoughtful child sponsors

The New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) occurred in the late 1970s after the fall of the original British heavy metal bands like Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath. The progressive sounds of metal were sped up and turned into blistering power chords.

The guitars were often played with quick power chords and fast guitar solos. Power Metal bands always have a good vocalist with a high vocal range. Most Power Metal bands have two Lead Guitar players. Helstar was one of the first Power Metal Bands. There is a fine line between Traditional Metal and Power Metal. The bands often cross this line.
