Neurotheology
Neurotheology, also known as biotheology, is the scientific study of the evolutionary, neurological and psychological structures for the cognitive experiences of religious awe, oneness with the universe, ecstatic trance, sudden enlightenment and other altered states of consciousness that are the basis for many religious beliefs and behaviors.
