Ness

Ness (Japanese:ネス) is the hero of EarthBound. He comes from Onett and lives next to his evil, fat neighbor Pokey. Ness is chosen by an alien who emerges out of a meteorite that crashes on a nearby mountain, to save the world from Giygas. Ness has also appeared in Super Smash Bros as a hidden character and Super Smash Bros. Melee as a non-hidden character.

The name "Ness" is thought to purposely be an anagram of the acronym "SNES" used for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System.
