Neal Boortz
Neal Boortz (1945- ) is a popular talk radio host. He began his radio career in Atlanta in 1969 at WRNG-AM (Ring Radio). Boortz also practiced law from 1977 to 1992. His syndicated show originates from WSB-AM 750 in Atlanta, and currently has about five million listeners nationwide. He and his wife Donna reside in Atlanta, Georgia.A self-described Libertarian, Boortz is often accused of being a "Republican in sheep's clothing," referring to his tendency to advocate Republican party platforms, and his ardent support of Republican politicians, especially George W. Bush. His tendency to preferentially attack liberals and Democrats counter his claim that he is a libertarian and that, as such, he is disenchanted with both parties.
Libertarians are idealogically opposed to Republicans, particularly concerning corporate welfare, unprovoked, offensive wars, such as, arguably, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and the role of religion in government policy. They are also idealogically opposed to Democrats, particularly concerning social welfare and higher taxes. Accordingly, 'true' Libertarians are said to not offer strong support to either of the two major American political parties.
