Naxalites

The Naxalites are a group of extremist organisations that mainly operate in the Indian states of Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Orissa, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh. The term comes from the Naxalbari, a small place in West Bengal. It aligns its political philosophy with with Maoism of Mao Zedong and Lenin. They do not believe in the present political system of India and asserts itself as the protector of the poor. They have been responsible for attacks on political leaders and policemen through guerrilla warfare.
