Nanomedicine

For people who check facts
Nanomedicine is the medical application of nanotechnology and related research. It covers areas such as nanoparticle drug delivery and possible future applications of molecular nanotechnology (MNT).

The first thorough analysis of possible applications of MNT to medicine, can be read in Nanomedicine, a book by Robert Freitas; it analyzes a wide range of possible nanotechnology-based medical devices, and explains the relevant science behind their design.

Nanomedicine, Volume I: Basic Capabilities was published in 1999 as ISBN 157059645X (hardcover) and in 2002 as ISBN 1570596808 (softcover). It is also freely available online.

Nanomedicine, Volume IIA: Biocompatibility was published in 2003 as ISBN 1570597006 (hardcover). It will at some time be freely available online. Volume IIB will be published in 2005, and volume III is planned for 2007.

More information on nanomedicine is available at Freitas' Nanomedicine Nanomedicine Page and medical nanorobot images are available at the Nanomedicine Art Gallery, curated by Freitas.
