Nanauatzin
In Aztec mythology, the god Nanauatzin (or Nanahuatzin) sacrificed himself in the sun's fire that it would continue to shine on Earth, and in turn became the sun god. He took the role when his brother Tecciztecatl refused out of fear of being burnt; Tecciztecatl in turn was punished for his fear by being thrown into the moon. He is often depicted with a pimpled face. This article is a stub. You can help Wikipedia by expanding it.
