Nagpur is a city located near the geographical center of India, in the state of Maharashtra. Nagpur has a metropolitan population of 2.4 million (1998 est.), roughly half of whom are Marathi speakers. It is known throughout the country as the "Orange Capital," due to its favorable climate for growing orangess.
