In the X-Men comic books, the Morlocks were mutants living in the sewers of New York City who could not 'pass' as normal. Most of them were slaughtered by Mister Sinister's henchmen, the Marauders, in the Morlock Massacre.

Morlocks are evil, sub-human characters in the 1895 novel The Time Machine by H.G. Wells. They live underground, tending machinery, and are seen by many to represent the "soul-deadening" effects of the Industrial Revolution.
