Morehead Planetarium
The Morehead Planetarium is located on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. First opened in 1949, the Morehead Planetarium was used to train astronauts in the Gemini and Apollo programs in celestial navigation. Until the late 1990s, it contined one of the largest working Copernican orreries in the world. The facilty was donated to the University by UNC-Chapel Hill alumnus John Motley Morehead III.
