Mimosa
Mimosa is a genus of about 400 species of herbs and shrubs, in the subfamily Mimosoideae of the family Fabaceae, with evenly bipinnate leaves. The best-known species is Mimosa pudica, also known as the "Sensitive plant", because of the way it folds its leaves down when touched; it and many others also fold their leaves in the evening. The name has also been misapplied to several other related species with similar bipinnate leaves, most commonly to Albizia julibrissin (Silk tree) and Acacia dealbata (Silver wattle).
A Mimosa is a cocktail composed of champagne and orange juice, traditionally served with a morning brunch.
Quotation: "Champagne and orange juice is a great drink. The orange improves the champagne. The champagne definitely improves the orange." - Philip, Duke of Edinburgh
Mimosa is an alternative name for the star Beta Crucis. It has fallen into disuse in recent decades, generally superseded by the contraction Becrux (q.v.).
