Middlesbrough F.C. are an English football team. They are currently in the Premier League. They play at the Riverside stadium, Middlesbrough. Their manager is Steve McClaren, and the chairman is Steve Gibson.

Middlesbrough won the League Cup in 2004, the club's first major trophy since its formation in 1876.

Members of Middlesborough cricket club founded Middlesborough football club in 1875, this was a common practice at the time as football was seen as a game to be played in the off-season of cricket. Middlesborough FC turned professional in 1889 however in 1892 turned amateur again then 1899 once more became professional. Boro faced financial problems in the 1980s and was forced to liquidate in 1986 however at the end of year it was brought back to life
