Mickey Rourke

Actor Philip Andre Rourke Jr. (born 1956-09-16 in Schenectady, USA) grew up in an area called Liberty City in Miami, USA; and studied at the Lee Strasberg Institute.

He made his film debut in the film 1941, but didn't garner much attention until his work in Body Heat, Diner and Rumble Fish. He starred in Nine 1/2 Weeks, Barfly, and Francesco. He performed with musician David Bowie on the Never Let Me Down album, and wrote three produced movies.

He became a professional boxer in 1991, and lost to Carlos Monzon. In 1994 he was arrested for spousal abuse by the Los Angeles Police Department. The next year he retired from boxing, and returned to full time acting, going on to work in The Rainmaker and Once Upon a Time in Mexico.
