Medina, England

Medina was a borough on the Isle of Wight in England from 1974. It was effectively abolished on April 1, 1995. It covered Newport, Cowes and Ryde, and got its name from an older name for Newport; which has been preserved in the River Medina. It was one of two boroughs on the island - the other was South Wight.
