Macmillan and Company

Macmillan is a global publishing firm founded in 1843 by Daniel and Alexander Macmillan, two brothers from the Isle of Arran, Scotland.

Until 1995 it was one of the oldest independent publishing houses.

The Macmillan group is owned by German media giant Verlagsgruppe Georg von Holtzbrinck GmbH.
