Lot-et-Garonne is a French dÃÂépartement named after the Lot and Garonne rivers.
History
The dÃÂépartement was created during the French Revolution on March 4, 1790, in application of the law of December 22, 1789, from part of the province of Guyenne et Gascogne. Some of the original southeastern cantons were separated from it in 1808 to form the dÃÂépartement of Tarn-et-Garonne.
Geography
The dÃÂépartement of Lot-et-Garonne is part of the Aquitaine region. It borders the dÃÂépartements of Lot, Tarn-et-Garonne, Gers, Landes, Gironde, and Dordogne.
