Liepaja

For people who check facts
Liepaja (Polish Lipawa, German Libau; population 89,448 in 2000 census) is a city in Latvia, on the Baltic sea. Fishermen founded the city in 1253.

Liepaja has had military importance for a very long time. The old Soviet seaport Karosta is now open for visitors and considered worth a visit, not only for people interested in the rusting remains of the Soviet empire, but also for the cathedral undergoing restoration.

Some parts of Liepaja have a "special economic zone" designation to attract investors.
