Kwacha
The Kwacha is the name of the monetary unit of Zambia (from 1968) and of Malawi (from 1970). The Zambian kwacha is divided into 100 ngwee, the Malawian kwacha into 100 tambala. The name derives from the Bemba word for "dawn," alluding to the Zambian nationalist slogan of a "new dawn of freedom".
